Brooke arrived home late Friday night and kiteboarding was the last thing that he was thinking of doing on the weekend. Brooke has an amazing record of jinxing the wind but this weekend would be different. We woke to a decent East wind blowing about 15 knots. Brooke and I started out to be joined by Don and Jamie. The video below has video from that first morning session. The pictures were taken by Terri in the afternoon session where Jamie and Brooke were well powered on the big kites. This was one of the steadiest, most consistent days that we have had at home in years.
What a great day!!

Hatteras May 2011
We arrived on Saturday morning at 9am with a decent wind blowing. We managed to kite for about 3 hours. Jamie and Don used 14 and 13m kites. I spent the entire time on a 17m kite.
Here is a video shot using the GoPro HD Hero camera using the Naish surfboard and the the Waroo 17m kite.

Sunday was supposed to be completely dead. The wind managed to come up for about an hour in the afternoon. Here is a video of that session using a 17m Waroo kite and Slingshot Misfit board.

Kiteboarding Video Archives
I have edited some old kiteboarding videos and posted on Youtube.
The first video was from the summer of 2005 when Don and I started to learn kiteboarding. We bought a Slingshot kite and tried our best to make it work on the Ottawa River at Constance Bay.
After going to Cape Hatteras in the fall of 2005 Don and I learned to ride properly and stay upwind. In the spring of 2006 I bought a quiver of Best Waroos (7m, 9m, 12m, 16m). Jamie and I kited in Cape Hatteras in the spring of 2006. The following two videos are really the first time we learned to jump. These videos were taken in Constance Bay in the summer of 2006.
This video includes Jon, Jamie, Don and Brooke. this was the first time that Brooke ever tried kiting.

Jamie Snow Kiteboarding Constance Bay
Jamie grabbed my snowboard and went for a ride on the nice powder on the river.
It is unbelievable how high he was boosting near the end of his session when the wind picked up and the visibility dropped.

Ottawa River Kiteboarding
Jamie and Don kited on the Ottawa River. Jamie used the GoPro HD helmet camera for the first time.
Milne ended up with a concussion on a fear of the front-hand jump.
See video footage below. Note that the original video quality is higher than this video.
Thanks to Jamie for producing the video.

Cross Country Ski to Quyon
I had a good cross country ski today to Quyon and back with Don.
As you can see from the GPS plot it was nearly 24km and took just over 2 hours.
It was a great day for a ski with some fresh snow (10 cm) and reasonably warm temperature (-8C).
